About the Financial Award
Established in 2024, the Jay and Marilyn Ng Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. It aims to motivate outstanding undergraduates at the University's School of Accountancy or the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, with demonstrated financial needs, to achieve academic and to accord appropriate recognition to the recipients of the Study Awards for their accomplishments.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time first year undergraduates enrolled in School of Accountancy or Lee Kong Chian School of Business
- Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)
Benefits
- $8,500 per year (towards subsidised tuition fee)
- Tenable for 4 year of study
- May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.
Application
Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor
Ng Jen Wei (Jay) is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategic Business Development for Vitol Asia Pte Ltd. He is a director of Vitol Group’s board and member of Vitol Group’s Executive Advisory Committee. Jay is also a member the Advisory Board of Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University.
Tay Yue Koon (Marilyn) is the CEO and Managing Director AV Strategic Management Pte Ltd. Marilyn has extensive experience in audit, risk management and advisory services, having worked for various top companies like PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Keppel Corporation and OCBC Bank.
Having started from humble roots, both Jay and Marilyn fully appreciate that the lack of financial resources can often deprive young and talented individuals of opportunities to further their studies and pursue their dreams.
The couple is grateful for their blessings and are motivated to provide others with such similar opportunities. This gift to SMU is in celebration of their silver jubilee wedding anniversary. The couple sincerely hopes that these individuals can pursue their goals and contribute to society and to the development of Singapore.
