About the Financial Award

Established in 2024, the Jeeve & ST Cheng Kanagalingam Endowed Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to motivate outstanding undergraduates at the University, with demonstrated financial needs, to spur them on to greater heights of academic excellence and to accord appropriate recognition to the recipients of the Study Awards for their accomplishments. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,000 per year (towards subsidised tuition fee)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

Jeeve is an ENT surgeon and Sok-Theng is a lawyer turned risk manager, who have made Singapore their home. Jeeve and Sok-Theng have a special interest in education as part of their philanthropic outreach. Through Sok's own experience from an under-privileged background, they have seen opportunity in education having a powerful impact in elevating the lives of young people and their families.
