About the Financial Award

Established in 2025, the Kong Yuet Peng Endowed Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. It is aimed to encourage undergraduates to aspire for academic excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Malaysia Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Should have demonstrated family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for university bursaries)

Benefits

  • $10,666 (towards subsidised tuition fee)
  • Tenable for one year of study

Conditions of Award

The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

Mr Yeo Keng Joon is a deeply respected philanthropist and advocate for education, whose generosity has supported students across all Institutes of Higher Learning in Singapore. A proud Malaysian and firm believer in the power of access, Mr Yeo established the Kong Yuet Peng Endowed Study Award at Singapore Management University (SMU) in celebration of his 50th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Kong Yuet Peng.

Yuet Peng, a former adjunct professor in the early years of SMU, was known for her strong belief in the transformative power of education and her personal commitment to students' growth and global exposure. In honour of her values, this study award reflects their shared vision of nurturing future leaders who are resilient, compassionate, and empowered to create meaningful impact in their communities.

Through this gift, Mr Yeo and Yuet Peng continue a legacy of love, learning, and giving. Their generosity exemplifies their lifelong commitment to empowering future generations, their profound belief in social mobility, and in giving back to create a better future for others.
