SMU-X Opportunity Award

About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, The SMU-X Opportunity Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to subsidise travel expenses of students enrolled in an SMU-XO course with an overseas travel component.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all full-time undergraduate SMU students (not applicable to exchange students)
  • Enrolled as a student in an SMU-XO course with an overseas travel component
  • Not a recipient of other awards that provide similar funding for overseas trips for the course
  • Preference for students with no prior overseas exposure trips
  • Demonstrate financial needs not exceeding the gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with the prevailing income level for government-funded bursaries) [Priority will be given to students with verified per capita income (PCI) and/or Gross Household Income (GHI)]

Benefits

  • Value: $1,000 each (cash allowance to subsidise travel-related expenses)
  • Tenable for the approved SMU-XO course with overseas travel component
     

Conditions of Award

  • Preference for students with no prior overseas exposure trip
  • The Recipient must submit a bursary application to validate their household income
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Application

  • Applications will be invited through email announcements, generally:
    -  between July and August (for Term 1)
    -  between December and January (for Term 2)
  • Applications are to be submitted via OASIS > Self-service Application - Financial Aid Application
  • Interview is required of shortlisted applicants as determined by SMU-X Office
