About the Financial Award

Established in 2023, the Zhang Xiaozhen Study Award is available to full-time Singaporean undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to encourage bright undergraduates to aspire for academic excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens 
  • With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,000 per year (towards annual subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of another bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

Having lived and studied in different countries around the world, Xiaozhen and her family relocated to Singapore in 2021 and made Singapore their home. As a strong believer in giving back to the community and creating equal learning opportunities for the less privileged, she established this study award in 2023 to support SMU students in their pursuit of quality and holistic education.
