Eligibility Criteria
- Citizens from ASEAN* member countries (excluding Singapore citizens)
- Have strong leadership qualities and potential
- Present good co-curricular activities records
- Possess outstanding high school results
- Be applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree programme at SMU
* ASEAN member countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam

- 100% coverage of subsidised undergraduate tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant - scholarship recipients must take up the MOE Tuition Grant)
- S$5,800 annual living allowance
- S$1,750 one-time computer allowance upon enrolment
- S$3,000 annual accommodation allowance
Terms & Conditions
- MOE Tuition Grant Requirement
While the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship carries no bond, recipients are required to accept the Ministry of Education (MOE) Tuition Grant. Singapore Permanent Residents and international students who accept the Tuition Grant will be subject to a bond requiring them to work for a Singapore-registered company for a period of three (3) years immediately upon graduation - Academic Performance
Scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.4 out of 4.0. Academic performance will be reviewed at the end of each academic term - Overseas Programme Participation
Recipients may participate in overseas programmes lasting up to one academic term. Participation in such programmes is not permitted during the final year of study - Double Degree Programme Coverage
The scholarship covers students enrolled in Double Degree Programmes, provided that both degrees are completed within the standard four-year student tenure - Withdrawal of Scholarship
The University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship at any time if the recipient’s academic progress or conduct is deemed unsatisfactory - Concurrent Awards
Scholarship recipients may not concurrently hold any other scholarships, bursaries, or university loans without prior written approval from the University - Post-Graduation Employment
Scholarship recipients are responsible for securing their own employment to fulfill the obligations of the MOE Tuition Grant bond. SMU does not guarantee or provide job placement upon graduation - Termination and Repayment
In the event of premature termination of the scholarship or breach of any of the stated terms and conditions, the recipient shall be liable to repay liquidated damages.
Application Procedure
- Applications for scholarships must be submitted concurrently with the application for admission to SMU
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified in due course
- Scholarships are awarded based on merit and competition among eligible applicants
- SMU reserves the right not to award any scholarship if no candidate meets the required standard of merit. The decision of the selection committee is final, and no appeals or disputes will be entertained
- Applications must be submitted via the Applicant’s Self Service Portal after completing the online admission application
