About the Donors
Ik Wei and Susana are both beneficiaries of the Singapore legal education system. They are firm believers in lawyers spending time living and practising overseas. They spent 16 years living and practising law in Hong Kong and Shanghai with international law firms before returning to Singapore. During the course of this period, privacy and data protection law has evolved rapidly into a significant practice with synergies in cyber security law and ESG, and is set to grow in prominence with developments in AI, surveillance and the metaverse.
They hope that this Award will encourage more SMU students to take up the study and subsequently the practice of privacy and data protection law.
