About the Financial Award
Established by Dr Della Suantio Lee and the D S Lee Foundation, the grants are aimed at supporting student excellence in Arts. It will be used towards funding student projects to nurture artistic talents, in particular the performing arts at the University.
Eligibility Criteria
An SMU student body or club practising or supporting at least one art form including performing arts, visual arts, film art and media.
The award of the grant will be based on:
- The number and/or quality of arts events/initiatives, demonstrable success in execution of said initiatives as well as level of arts achievements in the past year.
- Quality of initiative/project proposed for the coming year.
Conditions of Award
The Grants will go towards supporting student excellence in Arts in funding student projects with the objective to nurture artistic talents, in particular performing arts at the University.
Benefits
Up to two grants at a combined annual value of up to $10,000
Application
The Office of Student Life will send the application announcement via email annually in January/February.

About the Donor
This Grant is made possible by Dr Della Suantio Lee and the D S Lee Foundation.
The DS Lee Foundation Inspiration Grant for the Arts is made possible from the proceeds of an endowed sum by Dr Della Suantio Lee. Dr Della Suantio Lee is the founder-chairperson of the D.S. Lee Foundation, which she established in 2004 to improve the quality and status of nursing in Singapore through scholarships and related partnerships. Education is also a strong focus of her philanthropy. Through her foundation, Dr Della Suantio Lee has championed numerous causes in healthcare, education, art, culture as well as social and community projects. Dr Della Suantio Lee is the granddaughter of the late Thio Siong Soe, a well-known Indonesian philanthropist and long-time business associate of the late Lee Kong Chian. She is married to Dr Lee Seng Gee, the eldest son of the late Lee Kong Chian and a key benefactor of SMU through the Lee Foundation. Read more
