About the Donor

Alumnus Darrell Ee (BAcc, Class of 2007) is a dedicated sportsman who embodied perseverance, commitment, and teamwork throughout his academic and athletic journey. As Captain of the SMU water polo team and a member of the National water polo team, Darrell’s dedication culminated in a gold medal at the 2003 SEA Games. His success in academics and sports was made possible by SMU’s unwavering support, which helped him manage the demands of a rigorous curriculum alongside his athletic commitments.

The values instilled through sports—discipline, teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship—have been integral to Darrell’s success. These principles shaped his approach to life and business, inspiring him to give back to his alma mater. He believes that just as sportsmanship taught him to support and uplift others, his contribution to SMU’s The Ee Family Study Award and The Ee Family International Exchange Grant will empower future generations of students to thrive despite financial barriers.

His generous gift in celebration of SMU’s 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee is a reflection of his gratitude and a powerful expression of his commitment to nurturing the next wave of leaders, just as SMU nurtured him.
