About the Financial Award

The Ho See Beng Scholarship is funded by the proceeds of an endowed sum by friends and business associates of the late Mr Ho See Beng who was the former Member of Parliament, Co-founder and 1st President of the National Trade Union Congress. Mr Ho was well-known for his contributions to the Singapore's Labour movement and honoured with the Public Service Star for his work in 1990.

The Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students pursuing the Bachelor of Social Science programme with the School of Social Sciences at the Singapore Management University. The Scholarship is aimed at motivating students to achieve greater heights of excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time Bachelor of Social Science undergraduates
  • Must have completed at least one year of study
  • Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident
  • Outstanding academic performance (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00)
  • Active involvement in CCA and/or community service
  • Good leadership skills and character records
  • With demonstrated financial needs

Benefits

  • Tenable for one year of study
  • Valued at $9,000 per annum
  • The scholarship is to pay for the recipient’s school fees and study-related expenses
