About The Scholarship
The Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship is offered to outstanding citizens of Asian country/region. This scholarship is open to applicants intending to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Computer Science and Software Engineering programmes offered by the School of Computing and Information Systems at the Singapore Management University.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be full-time first-year undergraduate students at SMU enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering programmes offered by the School of Computing and Information Systems.
- Be a citizen of India, China (PRC), Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan
- Possess outstanding high school academic results
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential
- Have an excellent record of co-curricular activities and/or community service involvement
Benefits
- 100% coverage of subsidised undergraduate tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant - scholarship recipients must take up the MOE Tuition Grant)
- S$6,000 annual living allowance
- S$1,750 one-time computer allowance upon enrolment
- S$200 one-time settling-in allowance upon enrolment
- Annual accommodation allowance is equivalent to the lowest double room rate for on-campus accommodation
- Travel allowance to defray transport cost for incoming passage from home country to Singapore at the start of course and return passage between Singapore and home country after the completion of course (subject to proof of employment)
Terms and conditions
- The scholarship is tenable for the normal candidature period of the undergraduate programme at SMU
- Scholarship holders are required to serve a six-year bond with a Singapore-registered company immediately upon graduation from SMU
- Scholars must accept the MOE Tuition Grant and must not concurrently hold other scholarships, bursaries, or university loans without prior approval from the University
- Scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.4 out of 4.0. Academic performance will be reviewed at the end of each academic term
- The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if the scholarship holder's academic progress or behaviour is deemed unsatisfactory
- Recipients are responsible for securing their own employment to fulfill the obligations of the MOE Tuition Grant bond. SMU does not guarantee or provide job placement upon graduation
- In the event of premature termination of the scholarship, withdrawal from the University, or breach of any stated terms and conditions, the recipient shall be liable to repay liquidated damages
- Recipients may participate in overseas programmes lasting up to one academic term. Participation in such programmes is not permitted during the final year of study
