About the Award

Established in 2016, the SMU Alumnus Finance Mentoring Award seeks to motivate the University’s exceptional student talent at the Singapore Management University.  It provides recognition to an undergraduate student who possesses strong interest in Finance and pursuing a career in the Finance sector.

The award will be presented at a University-level event.

Eligibility Criteria

The award is open to students who:

  • Are first year full-time undergraduates proceeding to second year of study
  • Are enrolled in any degree programme
  • Achieved minimum cumulative GPA 3.60 and scored at least A- for Financial Accounting Module
  • Demonstrate active student life through leadership participation in CCAs, with preference in clubs related to Finance, Banking and Investment;
  • Demonstration of strong interest in Finance through declared Finance major or Finance concentrations may also be considered.

The award will only be given if there is a candidate of sufficient merit.

Benefits

  • Certificate and $1,000 Cash Prize
  • Offered mentorship by the Donors

Application

  • Applications will be invited in Term 2 annually.
  • Interested applicants must provide documentary evidence in support of fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
  • Recipient will be determined by the Lee Kong Chian School of Business.

About the Donor

SMU Alumnus Finance Mentoring Award is supported by a group of SMU alumni who would like to pay it forward and make a difference to aspiring Finance graduates.  The recipient would have privileged access, in the form of a mentoring programme to the alumni group which comprises individuals with a wide range of experience across investment banking, private equity, sovereign wealth funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, real estate and commodities trading houses.
