MOE Guidelines
Under the Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines introduced in Academic Year 2006–2007, the government Tuition Grant covers tuition fees only for the normal candidature period of four years for undergraduate programmes, including double degrees.
Why It’s Important to Graduate on Time
The Undergraduate Tuition Fee Policy is designed to help you:
- Complete your degree within the standard four-year candidature period.
- Gain an early advantage in your career.
Avoid paying higher, non-subsidised tuition fees.
Note:
Requests to continue paying the subsidised tuition fee rate beyond this period will only be considered under exceptional circumstances and require approval from your schools.
Approval is not guaranteed and is subject to strict review.
While the University offers an impactful curriculum and programmes to support your success, you are responsible for planning your modules and study schedule carefully to graduate on time.
Tip: Plan your modules early to avoid delay.
What Happens If You Exceed Four Years?
The MOE Tuition Grant applies only for the normal candidature period.
Any tuition fees incurred beyond this duration will be charged at the full, non-subsidised rate.
What Counts Towards the Candidature Period?
The normal candidature period includes:
- Time taken to complete internship and community service requirements
- Participation in external study programmes (e.g., international exchange)
- Approved leave of absence taken after Week 2 of a regular term.
Note: Leave of absence approved before Week 3 of a regular term will not count towards your candidature period.
