About the Financial Award

Established in 2025, the ZE Cho Overseas Study Mission Grant is available to full-time School of Accountancy undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  The purpose of the grant is to support full-time undergraduates at the School of Accountancy of the University, with demonstrated financial needs, to embark on overseas study mission trips.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in the School of Accountancy (including Double Degree Accountancy students)
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Demonstrated financial needs (with a gross monthly per capita income in accordance with prevailing Ministry of Education guidelines) [Priority will be given to students with verified per capita income (PCI) and/or Gross Household Income (GHI)]

Benefits

  • $2,000 each (cash allowance)
  • Tenable for the approved overseas student programme

Application

  • Applications are to be submitted via OASIS > All Apps - Financial Aid Application, using student computer account username and password.
  • Application periods: June (for ASM in Term 1) and December (for ASM in Term 2)

About the Fund

Mr Shawn Cho, is an alumnus of Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Accountancy. Shawn has worked as a tax practitioner for more than 12 years, in both a public accounting firm as well as at various multi-national corporations. In addition to his full-time role, Shawn has taught as an adjunct lecturer at SMU School of Accountancy, driven by his passion for education and his desire to give back to his alma mater. Shawn’s commitment to SMU extends beyond the classroom. He has expressed a strong desire to support students facing financial hardships. To demonstrate this commitment, he has decided to donate his entire adjunct lecturing salary to SMU. His generous contributions will be directed towards Study Missions with the SMU School of Accountancy, ensuring that deserving students can pursue overseas learning opportunities without financial burdens.

In recognition of his generosity and commitment, Shawn continues to inspire fellow alumni and current students, showcasing the profound impact that one individual can make in the community.
