Why did you choose to come to SMU?

I choose to come to SMU because of its central location near the CBD, as well as its business school which is well known for producing top finance students and having a strong alumni network to top firms in the finance industry.

Please share about any community service projects/trips that you have taken part in in SMU, and why those are meaningful to you.

I took part in Project Midori, a community service project committed to reducing food waste in SMU. It is meaningful to me because it taught me to be more conscious about food wastage and it made me more aware of how to properly segregate food waste to ensure the food waste can be properly processed and repurposed.

What is one thing you were unprepared for about university life that you wish you knew before joining SMU?

Something I was unprepared for was the intensity of group projects in SMU. People tend to say that SMU’s class participation is highly competitive and has high weightage, but for me, the part that I was most unprepared for was group projects, especially in business school. In JC, there aren’t much opportunities for group projects aside from Project Work so it felt very daunting to suddenly having large group projects in almost every class. For business school especially, the weightage for group projects is very high and can range from 15% to even 40%.
