Why did you choose to come to SMU?
I chose SMU due to a multitude of reasons. One factor was the location. Being in the city, it made it faster to travel to school as compared to NTU and NUS. Another factor was the class participation that took up a percentage of our grades. When I interact with working adults that have experience working with interns, most of them would say that SMU students have the best presentations skills. I believe this is because SMU modules require students to participate in class, as well as having multiple presentations, boosting one’s confidence to be able to present well when we enter the working world.
Why did you choose your field of study / degree programme?
I chose accountancy mainly due to the stable career as well as plenty of job opportunities. People say that AI will take over an accountant’s role, and that soon enough there will be no accountants, but that is simply not true. Accountants will always be needed making it a stable job. Furthermore, studying accountancy does not mean you need to become an accountant after you graduate. The skills and knowledge you obtain will be useful no matter what field you choose to go into.
