"From receiving a world-class education, learning from renowned professors, and interacting with highly motivated individuals, SMU has become instrumental in shaping my dreams and propelling me to new heights. As I walk through this university’s corridors, I am reminded that SMU has taken a chance on me, and every day, I turn this chance into change."

Why did you choose to come to SMU?

I chose to come to SMU because of the institution’s interactive teaching pedagogy and attractive central location. As a student, building a strong professional relationship with my professors is one of my top priorities, and learning about SMU’s seminar style classes easily ticked this requirement.

More notably, as an international student, feeling the vibrant heartbeat of Singapore was essential to me, and it was this deep connection with the university’s city campus that persuaded me to choose SMU as my university of choice.

How has SMU’s city location enriched your university experience?

SMU’s city location allows me to access Singapore’s extensive, interconnected transportation network, connecting me to key city landmarks including the central business district, the Marina Bay Sands, and the Orchard shopping belt, among others. On a more interesting note, I am able to travel directly to some of Singapore’s heartlands where I can connect with the locals, learn a little bit of Singlish, and explore an array of hawker centres.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are thinking of applying to SMU?

For prospective students, SMU offers attractive scholarship and financial assistance packages that allow you to focus on, truly, being a student without the worry of heavy costs. You are able to attend your classes, study in the library, and experience Singapore to the fullest knowing that SMU has the resources and facilities to support you and your development!
