What is one key lesson you learned at SMU that is still relevant to you today?
No man is an island. You can’t get through university without friends, and you can’t accomplish your projects without a team. By understanding and valuing the differences in others’ perspectives, we can uncover new possibilities through openness and creativity. As a co-founder of a business, this is a principle that I strive to emulate and encourage others to practice.
What is your fondest memory of your time at SMU?
In year 2, I visited San Francisco and Hong Kong for a couple of Study Missions. Not only was I able to enjoy and immerse myself in a different culture, I was also able to make friends who later became mentors, advisors, and confidantes. I also did my International Student Exchange Programme in the United States, where I spent almost the entire year travelling across California, and even bought a dog as my travel companion who is still happily living with me now.
If you had to start college all over again, what would you do differently?
I would not put too much pressure on myself to do well academically, but focus on gaining soft skills such as networking, making more friends, and participating in the numerous activities available.
