“For me, SMU stood out because of its small seminar-style classes, project-based curriculum and focus on practical learning. Moreover, the compulsory internship, the international exposure opportunities and the close professor-student relationship drew me towards SMU.”

How has SMU transformed you and equipped you with the skillet to thrive in your current career?

More than anything, SMU has taught me to learn how to learn. It has instilled in me not only the technical skillset, but the leadership and communication skills needed to succeed. From learning how to write emails, to delivering presentations, to conducting myself in a formal setting- SMU has looked at every detail to make me work-ready!

Why do you think SMU graduates have an edge in the global workforce?

SMU graduates have an edge over the workforce because of the practical exposure they gained in school. Every module at SMU has compulsory class participation, groupwork where you work on a real-life project with a real company and a presentation. Moreover, the various global exposure programmes such as business study missions, overseas internships and international student exchange help in holistic development.

Any advice for international students who are considering SMU?

A good balance of exceptional grades and extracurricular involvement is what you need! More importantly, work on your soft-skills, especially communication skills and do not be afraid to express yourself during the admissions interview.
