SMU Changemakers: Nicholas Lim & Tylor Jong, TreeDots - Old

Meet SMU alumni Tylor Jong (BSc in Economics) and Nicholas Lim (BBM). Together, they've set out to tackle the issue of food waste with their social enterprise, TreeDots. By leveraging on technology, they've created a sustainable way for food and beverage businesses to salvage value off their unsold inventory, and, in turn, reduce food waste. Since January 2018, TreeDots has saved about 314 tonnes of food—the equivalent of supplying potable water for 7 million people in a year. Find out what TreeDots is all about and how Tylor and Nicholas are doing their part to change the way we view, cook and eat these 'imperfect' produce.

Being a changemaker is not for the fainthearted—it takes boldness, resilience, empathy and a huge dose of commitment. In this series we pay homage to individuals at SMU who are dedicated to go beyond simply doing good, to advance the cause they believe in and effect a positive change in our world. From environmental issues, healthcare needs to helping the vulnerable, they are innovative problem-solvers who are determined to help communities overcome social issues and to ensure that no one gets left behind. They are the SMU Changemakers.
