SMU Korean Scholarship

About the Financial Award

Established in 2026, the purpose of the Scholarship is to motivate outstanding South Korean undergraduates at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) of the University, to spur them on to greater heights of academic excellence and to accord appropriate recognition to the recipients of the Scholarship for their accomplishments.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time incoming undergraduate freshmen enrolled at LKCSB
  • South Korean citizens (excluding those holding Singapore Permanent Residency)
  • Good academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4)

Benefits

  • $25,000 per annum (towards annual subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for up to 4 years of the recipient’s academic studies, subject to continued observance of the eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of award

Conditions of Award

  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

About the Donor

The SMU Korean Scholarship is established by Lake Tower Management, the Singapore-based single-family office of Mr Jung Kangsik and his family. Mr Jung is a pioneering technology entrepreneur originally from Korea, who co-founded and scaled his business into a tech unicorn. After a successful exit and a distinguished career driving digital innovation in Seoul, Mr Jung established Lake Tower Management in Singapore to manage global investments and philanthropic initiatives focusing on capital stewardship and empowering the next generation of talent. He holds a Bachelors of Science (B.S.), Computer Science and Engineering from Seoul National University.
