About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, the SMU International Exchange Scholarship seeks to motivate and inspire, as well as provide financial support to SMU full-time undergraduates with demonstrated financial need, to spend a semester of study at an overseas SMU partner university.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates pursuing any degree programme
  • Participating in international student exchange programmes with SMU partner universities
  • Any nationality
  • Good academic results
  • Active involvement in co-curricular activity and community service commitment
  • Evidence of demonstrated financial hardship in the family (not exceeding the gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with the prevailing income level for government-funded bursaries) [Priority will be given to students with verified per capita income (PCI) and/or Gross Household Income (GHI)]

Benefits

  • Tenable for the recipient’s one semester of study abroad with an SMU partner university.
  • Valued at $5,000 (an Asian country) or $10,000 (Europe or Americas) to fund exchange-related expenses.

Conditions of Award

  • The Recipient must submit a bursary application to validate their household income
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Application

Applications will be invited through Centre for Global Education and Opportunities' call for exchange applications:

  • February to March (Fall exchange application)
  • July to August (Spring exchange application)
