Just think about what you want yourself to be in three to four years. If you would like to become a person equipped with not only hard skills, but also strong soft skills, then SMU should definitely be your top choice.
I chose to join SMU because of its vibrant and dynamic atmosphere and reputation in the field.
I have taught ACCT102: Management Accounting to undergraduate students in the past four years. The module focuses on the use of accounting information for managers’ decision making. In this module, students will learn both theory and tools to deal with various problems faced by real-world managers, such as product cost calculations and various types of short-term and long-term decision making. Starting 2019/20 Term 2, I will be teaching ACCT112: Management Accounting to undergraduate students who major in accounting, and ACCT647: Accounting to master students in the MSc in Management (MiM) program.
SMU’s city location makes everything so convenient and efficient, which allows me to have more time for research. There are always good food and interesting activities (e.g., SMU Art Festival, Singapore Night Festival, etc.) nearby, so the academic life never gets boring.
There used to be a larger-than-life cardboard sculpture of Smoo Smoo (the SMU mascot) in the basement of SMU Li Ka Shing Library. Not sure where it went, but that used to be my favorite spot on campus, and I liked seeing it being dressed in different ways. If you google “SMU Smoo Smoo,” you can still find some pictures of it.
